ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Air Force has added a new combat aircraft to its operational inventory with the deployment of the sophisticated F7P in one of its frontline squadrons at its base in Rafiqui. The F7P is a completely modified and highly modernized version of the Mig21. The single seat tactical fighter has been manufactured by China and was contracted for purchase by Pakistan in 1987. Except for the initial Batch, the entire complement of pilots, maintenance crew and flight line personnel have been trained in Pakis tan, reports here said.
The aircraft has an advanced fire control system, greater weapons carrying capability and improved engine performance.
Air Chief Marshal Hakimullah, who flew the aircraft on Nov. 5, said the addition of this fighter contributed immensely to the striking power of the PAF to the dis sadvantage of any adversary.
