Indian Politicians had received 200 Million Austrian Shillings (Rs 23 Crore) from Norico Austrian gun manufactures. Austrian police have arrested two middlemen and two former Austrian Ministers are awaiting trial in connection with bribing Indian politicians 200 Shilling’s (Rs 23 crore), according to New Delhi’s Sunday Mail.
There are strong indications that early elections called by Rajiv Gandhi were due to another major arms scandal that surfaced in Austria. Tipped off by Russian Sources, Rajiv called the early poll. To ensure the early elections, Rajiv expanded the one man Election Commission’ by inducting 2 more members a day before the elections were announced.
The Austrian police have arrested two men involved in the bribing of Indian politicians. The two individuals and two former Austrian ministers are to be arraigned on Nov 22 for violating Austrian Laws.
To ensure the contract for the sale of EH49 155mm howitzer guns the money was paid in consideration for placing Austrian EH49 howitzer gun ahead of the French 155mm Sofma gun.
Unterberg, the former head of Norico, the manufacturer, who negotiated the payoff was in New Delhi on Oct 2528, met highly influential people.
