To ensure equitable distribution of wealth, the Gurus made it compulsory for the Sikhs to give a tithe to the Gurv’s treasury, so that the amount collected would be utilized for the welfare of humanity. 1 When the Masands became corrupt and began to feather their own nests, Guru Gobind Singh exterminated them. The institution of Langar, or the community kitchen is also socialistic in nature, as. it enables people of all castes and creeds to get together and dine like brethren, similarly, the four doors in Sikh gurdwaras symbolize their access to all four castes without any distinction.
