CHANDIGARH, India: A statewide bandh call for December 10 to protest against violations of human rights in Punjab has been given jointly by Punjab Human Rights Organization and ten other parties. This move has been supported by influential Bhartiya Kisan Union and the Punjab Janata Party. The bandh call coincides with the observance of International Human Rights Day by the United Nations in defence of the human rights all over the world. Ina statement the P.H.R.O. and the other organizations said that hundreds of youths have been killed in the fake encounters in Punjab while dozens of under trials taken out of jail and shot dead,

This was for the first time in Punjab’s history that under trials have been killed in fake escapes, ‘The practice was an Indian version of fascism which put to shame Botha’s apartheid and Salazar’s Portugal, The organizers have called upon the people not to transact any business on that day and have also asked not to bring fodder, milk and other marketable commodities to the man dies on that particular day, students have been asked not to attend classes while jail inmates have been requested hot to take food, the travelling public also has been asked not to travel that day except for urgent medical reasons.
