Journalist: Mr. Ambassador, Congress (I) General Secretary, Mr. K.V. Singh has charged Arun Nehru and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed of organizing political murders and communal riots when they were serving as ministers in Rajiv Gandhi’s Cabinet.

Ambassador: That’s right.

Journalist: Bhartiya Janata Party has demanded a probe into the allegations by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.

Ambassador: Very correct.

Journalist: How is it while making the charge, Mr. K.N. Singh did not consider that in organizing political murders and communal riots Mr. Nehru and Mr. Sayeed were only carrying out the Congress (I) policy? Doesn’t it, by implication, expose Rajiv Gandhi’s style of dealing with his opponents and minorities?

Journalist: Mr. Ambassador, talking of the organized acts of billegerency Mr. V.P. Singh gave instances of the hiring of criminals by the Congress (I) to disturb his meetings.

Ambassador: That’s right.

Journalist: He said hundreds of hired criminals were deployed all along his route from Lucknow to Unnao for throwing stones and two snakes were let loose at the public meeting addressed by him.

Ambassador: Very correct.

Journalist: What kind of “Swadeshi” democracy is Rajiv Gandhi practicing where political opponents are physically attacked rather than democratically challenged?

Journalist: Mr. Ambassador, S.G.P.C. Executive Committee passed resolutions against the head priests and then withdrew it. Now the Executive has once again endorsed the September 12 resolution.

Ambassador; That’s right.

Journalist: S.G.P.C. is also putting lot of pressure on Prof. Darshan Singh to resume his duties as Akal Takht Chief.

Ambassador, Very correct.

Journalist: Don’t you think by frequently shifting its stand the S.G.P.C. executive is playing into the hands of the Central government who is anxious to dissolve S.G.P.C. and appoint an adhoc committee of its stooges?
