CANDIGARH, India: Twenty-five widows of the November, 1984, anti-Sikh riots have charged that they have not received even a penny out of the 20,000 compensation amount an- bounced after the holocaust. In a joint affidavit, they said that even after repeated trips to the local courts, no action has been taken to pay the amount, They said officials in the Deputy Commissioners of demand post-mortem reports of death certificates and the same are not being issued to them by the government agencies. ‘They said that the bodies of their husbands were summarily disposed of without keeping any records. Now police officials were asking for fat bribes for issuing death certificates.

They demanded that they should be paid one lakh each in the same way as Punjab government was paying to the dependents of those who were killed in violent activities there, they also demand lifelong pension of 500 rupees for each widow. They have sent a petition in this respect to Central Home Minister, Mr. Buta Singh.
