Sir,

Fortunately, knowing Punjabi, I was able to read Dr. Jagjit Singh Chauhan’s article (WSNSept.8 1989) about Khalistan Council and the brief structural analysis of Sikh politics. Dr. Chauhan is a man of vision, experience and solid product of Punjab. He knows his people and their politics thoroughly in every shade an color. He can foresee the elements sprouted to make it or break it. This article is worthy of giving heed to it Sikh tradition of “KHALSA PANTH?” is democratic in nature and solid gift of the Gurus, and Sikh can preempt it or take it lightly. No one individual can deliver the Sikh community from the carnage where it is being destroyed. It behooves all Sikhs to look beyond any one Messiah and work democratically together, fully respecting each other and produce able and worthy Sikh men and women for public service. Sikhs need this more than any short lived clamor and glamour of politics that has no trace in history like a line drawn on water. Sikh leaders keep ignoring this rule one by one and keep biting the dust. Building an independent SIKH STATE (a beautiful idea) is going to need lots of material which Sikhs poses but have no mechanism (social engineering) to put together correctly. Let us work together, with the power of REASON more than emotions, to gain the same glory that we ourselves, foolishly, lost. We cannot afford to make such serious mistakes.

I have an unshakable faith that Sikhs can and will do it again. There is no collective future for ‘Sikhs in Hindu India,
