MOSCOW: Soviet foreign minister Edward Shevaronadze denounced sending of Soviet troops to Afghani Stan as gross violation of Soviet legislation, intra party and civic norms and ethical standards of the time, reports PTL.

In a detailed report to the Supreme Soviet on the country’s foreign policy, he admitted that the construction of the Krasnoyarsk radar station was a violation of the ABM treaty, a stand taken by the United States.

On relations with East European neighbors, he said there were problems and difficulties but there was no crisis.
