WSN Bureau AMRITSAR: Rajan, the only son of SSP Gobind Ram was gunned down in Jalandhar. Gobind Ram is better known as the Butcher of Batala and is said to personally torture women and children. Repression under him was severe enough for even Hindus to agitate for his removal. Two hundred youths have been killed in “encounters” and hundreds are missing in Batala.

The freedom fighters took this step to bring the police to its senses. The Indian government using Hindu police are bent upon a slow genocide of Sikhs. Gobind Ram on his own admission enjoyed his job thoroughly.

In another offensive the four year old son of SP operation in Tarn Taran Des Raj was kidnaped last week.

Bhai Gurjant Singh The Khalistan Liberation Force claimed responsibility for the Faridkot kidnaping. Ina press release Bhai Gurcharan Singh said the child would be released soon. Fake encounters and atrocities against women must stop. This was just a warning, the release said.

While most Sikhs had no comment, Prof Darsharn Singh said he condemned the killing of Rajan. This drew an angry reaction from G.S. Tohra now in Sangrur jail. He said the police officer was worse than the Mujhals in perpetrating crimes against Sikhs. The Mughals had not molested Sikh women and Gobind Ram had harvested what he had sown.

Rajan 18 was returning home from DAV college where he was a student with a friend on a motorcycle when he was shot at close range and killed.

The mortal remains of RaJan Bains were consigned to flames with police honors amid tight security at the PAP cremation grounds here on the afternoon of September 14.

Contingents of the Punjab Police downed their arms after the gun salute and as the buglers sounded the last post, Gobind Ram lit the funeral pyre.

Punjab Govenor S.S. Ray, DGP, K.P.S. Gill were on those present at the funeral.

Activists of the BJP Congress CPI, CPM and Shiv Sena mourned the death of Rajan.
