Guru Teg Bahadur was living at Anandpur Sahib. The Brahmans of Kashmir came to him and said, “The Muslims are changing our faith” The Guru said, “go tell the emperor that we all will change our faith if the Guru changes his faith.” The emperor told the police to go and get the Guru so they got the Guru along with his three Sikhs. Bhai Dayala, Bhai Mati Das and Bhai Sati Das. They were taken to Delhi and put in prison, After some days they asked them, “Well you changed your faith?” The Guru said, “no” they said, “we will torture you”. The Guru replied, “go ahead, we are not scared of death.” They took Bhai Dayala out and asked him to become a Muslim. Bhai Dayala said, “no” They made him sit in boiling hot water and he died. They asked Bhai Mati Das will you change your faith? He said, “no”, They put him between two pieces of wood. They got a saw and split him in two pieces. He became a Shaheed. They asked Bhai Sati Das to become a Muslim.” He too said, “no”. They wrapped him up in cotton and burnt his feet till he was dead. Then they got to Guru Teg Bahader and told him to change his faith. The Guru said “no”, I will not change my faith that is the will of the Lord.” His head was cut off with a sword. Bhai Jaita took his head to Anandpur Sahib and it was cremated there. Bhai Makhan Shah took the body to his house and burnt his house to keep it a secret from the police. Guru gave up his life and did not give up his faith.
