By Our Correspondent NEW YORE: Another activist of the All India Sikh Students Federation was granted political asylum by an immigration judge in New York on May 30.

Kulwinder Singh who originally belonged to Jullundhar was the latest person to be granted a political asylum in the U.S. by judge Austina,

He was a member of the All India Sikh Students Federation and had been arrested twice by the police who tortured him. Kulwinder Singh is married and has a young daughter. His wife, daughters and parents are still being harassed by the police in Punjab.

He had originally been held by the Immigration and Naturalization service at New York on October 7.

There are 6 more Sikh men who have asked for political asylum in New York, A number of other Sikhs have been given political asylum in the past in New York and San Francisco.
