From News Dispaches DEWAS: The Janata Dal president, V. P. Singh on Saturday secured a “mandate by a voice vote to dislodge the Rajiv Gandhi Government which had failed to check price rise, unemployment and corruption.
V.P. Singh who arrived here along with the Haryana Chief Minister Devi Lal and other senior Janata Dal leaders including Rampoojan Patel, Ramvilas Paswan and Vidyachran Shukla received cheers from a large crowd which heard him and Devi Lal lambast the Congress I leadership.
Another significant fallout of the Janata Dal leaders visit was a categorical statement by State leaders to sink their differences over the president ship of the State unit. Raman and Singh senior vice president of the state unit said at the public meeting that the differences have been resolved and V.C. Shukla was the undisputed leader of the Madhya Pradesh unit.
Deyilal said that while loans of farmers and other weaker sections were being waived up to Rs 10,000 his Government was firm about recovering the loan money from 21 persons who had between them taken Rs 10.5 crore.
The loans were given to them by the Congress (I) government. The list of the borrowers include Anup Bishoi son in law of former chief minister Bhajanlal who owed Rs 1,82 crore to various agencies, The other major borrowers included the former governor G.D. Tapase’s daughter in law, Kamlapati Tripathi (Rs 22 lakh) S.S. Surjewala, Haryana PCC(I) chief (Rs 12.25 lakh), and Uggar Sen political advisor to Bhajan Lal (Rs 22.19 lakh).
