By Our Correspondent AMRITSAR: A pregnant woman was amongst various other victims of the Border Security Force patrols on the Indo Pak border in Punjab.

Recently a BSF party challenged someone in the tall (elephant) grass near the border. After a warning they opened fire after which they heard a scream of pain. On combing the area they found they had shot a pregnant woman who was badly injured. “In this state she gave birth to a baby after which she died, due to lack of medical care,” the paper reported,

While Iron Curtain countries have been pulling down barbed wire fences on their borders, India is errectng one of its borders with Pakistan. Twenty six km has been fenced in the Taran Taran district.

Sikhs and Bangladesh’s are the main victims of the BSF.

Many Bangladeshies come to India in order to cross over to Pakistan where they believe they will have better job prospects. They try to cross the border illegally and many of them get killed by the BSF patrols which have been accused of being trigger happy by human rights groups.
