NEW DELHI: Indian and Afghan refugees seeking to enter India are arrested at Amritsar and Delhi, since many of them travel on forged documents.

The Indian government, however welcomes the Hindus but keeps Afghan Mujhadeen and Sikh refugees under arrest a civil rights body changed. India has close ties with the Soviet backed Afghan regime and the Mujhadeen have charged that Indian pilots have been flying the Soviet built MIG 23’s which have been bombing and strafing their positions.

A civil rights activists alleged that the police has been routinely torturing Sikh and Muslim refugees to extract information from them.

Such refugees were released only when their relatives paid bribes to the police, he further alleged.
