COLOMBO Reuters: At least eight Tamil rebels were killed when a navy draft fired at a guerrilla boat off Sri Lankas east coast the government said.
A sailor was wounded in the incident.
Troops searched the jungles off Trinconalee in the Easter province arrested 124 young men it added. Twenty one were identified as separatist rebels.
Five soldiers were killed when their vehicle skidded and over turned in the northwestern district of Anukadha pura. The soldiers were on a routine patrol and no guerrillas were involved.
