STOCKTON, Ca. The Sikh youth of California paid homage to Sikh Martyrs at a largely attended Shaheedi Conference in Gurdwara Stockton, The Diwan was held at 11:00 a.m. on May 11. 1986, immediately after the Kirtan followed by Bhog of Shri Akhand Path.
Bhai S.S. Dharam, a well-known scholar threw light on internal and external threats (o Sikhism and exhorted the people to take Khande Ki Pahaul. He said unity can come only after becoming true Sikhs and coming under one flag.
Dhadi Jatha of Inderjit Singh Ankhi recited anecdotes from Sikh history and kept the audience spell bound.
Bhai Pashaura Singh, a well-known scholar and head priest of Calgary, Canada, Gurdwara, explained the concept of Sikhism as contained in the Sikh phrases like “Deg Teg Fateh’ —‘Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh’ — ‘Panth Ki Rachhaya Ryaat”, etc.
In the end a Siropa was presented to Mata Beant Kaur grandmother of Kulwinder Singh Shergill son of Mohinder Singh Shergill of village Phuldiwala in Jullundar
District Kulwinder Singh was shot dead while serving Langar at Anandpur Sahib on Hola Mohalla.
‘The Diwan ended with Ardas and Hukam Nama and Langar was served on all the three days while the Akhand Path was in prepress.
