KATMANDU, Nepal : Britain’s Queen Elizabeth I and her husband, Prince Philip, received a Tumultous welcome from tens of thousands of Nepalese today at the start of four day State visit to the Himalayan Kingdom.

The royal couple, on their second trip to Nepal in 25 years, was welcomed by King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya when they arrived around midday aboard a special British Airways Tristar

Five virgins presented the Queen with garlands. The Government has declared the day a national holiday in celebration.

The Queen, who wore a buttercup yellow coat with matching skirt and hat, inspected a guard of honor of a contingent of the crack Gurkha regiment.
