The members of the Sikh community expressed shock and grief at the tragic loss of seven valuable astronauts in the Space Shuttle explosion. In a specially convened meeting on Sunday, February 2, 1986, the members Prayed for peace to the departed souls and courage for their families to bear this irreparable loss. They also prayed for the success of U.S. space program.

2.W.S.O Telegram to Ronald Reagan:

The W.S.O. expresses deep regret to the U.S. people on the tragic loss of seven valuable American lives during the Space Shuttle tragedy. May God grant the deceased eternal peace and blessings. We hope that success will crown the future ventures of U.S. Space Shuttle.

3.The Sikh Center, Houston Taxes:

All the members and their families felt a profound shock on learning about the great tragedy to our Nation the United States of America. The news of the explosion of the Space Shuttle today has caused a great grief specially the loss of human life.

A special evening prayer meeting was convened today from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. when prayers were held for peace to their kith and kin.

‘The members of the congregation resolved to offer for any service that they can render for the families of the astronauts involved in this accident.
