NEW DELHI: The chief minister of Assam state, Mohanta, ruled out the immediate banning the separatist United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA).

Replying to questions at a press conference here, Mohanta said the question of banning the ULFA was being considered by his government.

He, however, described ULFA violence as a “serious problem” and said his government had taken political as well as administrative measures to contain their activities.

He denied that his government was “sympathetic towards ULFA”?
