DELANO, GA: An eight year old daughter of a ’Sikh Doctor here was kidnaped by two people on April 7. She was found after her father paid the $30,000 ransom to an accomplice of the kidnappers who was later arrested by the police and the FBI.

The child’s mother was confronted by two armed assailants both Hispanic in the early morning. She called her husband and both were told that their 2 2 year old son was to be held hostage. A ransom of $50,000 was demanded for returning the child.

One of the gunmen blew to smithers a table lamp by the light of which the Doctor was reading the ransom note.

The rest of the family was also brought to the room by the second gunmen. They consisted of a 12 year old son, an 8 year old daughter and the elderly father in law of the Doctor.

The gunmen insisted on taking the youngest child, the 2% year old son, as a hostage but as the mother told them that the child was ill and required constant attention. They then took the boys sister as a hostage.

The Doctor and his friends contacted the FBI who set up the necessary surveillance and security devices.

The Doctor withdrew some money from the bank and went to the place where he was to drop it off. The money was picked by Rajinder Singh Jhanger a farm worker who migrated to the U.S. eight years ago and had even been treated free by the Doctor. His mother had also been treated gratis by the Doctor. He had apparently planned the crime and was an accomplice of the people who kidnaped the child.

The Doctor’s daughter was not to be seen. She had been abandoned in an orchard and had walked to a farmer’s house, as she was thirsty.

The family was reunited when the farmer contacted the police who contacted the parents.
