The Endowment Campaign for the Sikh Studies Center, at U of M, now boasts over $160,000 cash out of a pledged $650,000. The program will become self-supporting as soon as the kitty doubles this size. The campaign has come a long way. Sikhs true to their tradition of Danaapaani Guru daa… worldly goods are Guru’s gifts, ‘want to expose their host communities and budding Sikh scholars to Sikhism and Sikh way of life; And what a better place to do it than at the prestigious U of M: Others can do it too, but when “Michigan talks, White House and
Congress listen!” The Sikhs of Michigan have spearheaded this campaign, and deserve our Vadaai. I urge all Sikhs and Sikh groups to pledge if not done so far and send your generous share even before the ‘tax man cometh’ It helps Sikh Studies program to plan. The Sikhs have discovered yet another novel device for those who are unable to make individual commitments at this time The U of M will make any group Society, Gurdwara or Foundation” a member of its President’s Club for $15,000 over 10 years or $1500/a year. Here is a chance to get involved; send your checks to Sikh Studies Center care of U of M. Don’t forget the power of Sawaa Lakh Damraa of every Natha Singh or Prem Singh: Announce it through Saddaa Pattar, say it in Ardass, or post it on Bulletin Boards.
