WASHINGTON: US President George Bush and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev discussed India and Pakistan when they covered various regional “flashpoints” at Camp David White House spokesman Marlin Fitzwater said Saturday.

He did not elaborate.

The Cable News Network (CNN) said the emphasis was on “discussion” no agreements were reached on any of the regional issues discussed. Bush was called for a dialogue between India and Pakistan without preconditions.

Soviet academician and deputy Georgi Arbatov has said the Soviet Union was for a solution to the problem but he emphasized that the Soviet Union “strongly condemned” national and international terrorism in Kashmir, Afghanistan or anywhere else, He added up to now, the United States has not lived up to the commitments it has given.
