NEW DELHI: India’s so called independent press blacked out a statement issued by 137 senior government officials of Jammu and Kashmir requesting the UN and other world for a to intervene and stop the Indian govt atrocities on Kashmiris.

The indications that such a Statement had been issued came from BJP and Shiv Sena leaders who demanded that all the 137 be dismissed from govt service. BJP president Chaman Lal Gupta described the officers’ appeal as an open revolt.

Parmanand former JK speaker regretted the removal of Jagmohan as governor. His absence had emboldened the officers. He said the militants had offered a Rs one million reward for killing Jagmohan.

Meanwhile chief secretary RK Sachar advised the signatories to the appeal including director tourism, Iqbal Khandey to discuss the implications of the appeal. The officers replied that they had considered all the implications. Sachar said “you have crossed the limit in signing the statement”. The officers replied that limits had been crossed in every sphere of govt activity the signatories replied. The meeting ended abruptly.

Earlier a memorandum urging an end to state repression was signed by several thousand officers but was ignored by the govt. The media had blacked out the story then also for fear of having their presses seized.
