NEW DELHI: Indian External Affairs Minister Inder Kumar Gujral Wednesday refused in Rajya Sabha (upper house of the parliament) to confirm or deny reports that Pakistan had agreed to close down 30 camps, training people to create subversion in Jammu and Kashmir, in that country,

When asked whether the matter came up during the visit of Robert Gates to India as a special envoy of the U.S President last week, Gujral said he would not like to divulge it as it was a confidential matter.

To another question if the minister was aware of the reports, that a US. Satellite had spotted movement of nuclear warheads to forward areas in Pakistan, Gujral said, “we are trying to verify facts.”

He said it was “tactical mistake” for the government to have conceded Congress (I) demand for Chautala’s resignation as it had “further encouraged that party to blackmail the government in parliament.”
