CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Govt has tightened security for al! Political leaders notably Sikhs following the abortive bid on the life of G.S Tohra.
According to Sube Singh 19 (crime) 2000 politicians get police protection. Among Akalis Parkash Singh Badal has 80 policemen deployed to protect him. He also gets a police escort and pilot whenever he travels. He also has some commandos of the Haryana Police besides his private gunmen armed with sophisticated automatic weapons.
Barnala gets elaborate police protection also. While travelling a team of directors accompanies him. His blood group is known and supplies are kept at hand at all times.
Tohra’s blood group was not known before hand and he did not have enough security.
The security for Akal Takht Jathedar Darshan Singh and patron of Akali Dal Badal Jagdev Talwandi has also stepped up.
Simranjit Singh Mann has not accepted any security from the Govt and has his own gunmen.
The others who have been given more security are Bhai Manjit Singh, Bhai Jasbir Singh rode and Mehta and Chawla the AISSF leaders, “who is protecting who and why” is a question on many lips.
