STOCKTON: Ramandeep Singh Grewal was elected the student body president of Tokay High School in Lodi, California for 1990-91. He contested against four other students in a school of 2,800.

Ramandeep is the first Sikh in fact the first non-white to hold this position. He loves the responsibility of overseeing all students’ activities and represents the students at school board meetings. He likes pro-football, baseball and basketball.

Son of S. Lakhmir Singh and Birinder Kaur, he has a younger sister Anupama. 17-year-old Ramandeep would like to study medicine.

He would like to thank his family and friends and the Sikh community for their support.
