GAITHERSBURG, MD: A one day World Sikh Conference will be held on June 30 1990, in the Metropolitan Washington Area, which will bring together Sikhs from all over the world.
The venue is the Gurdwara Sahib 12917 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Springs, MD.
The purpose of this conference is to discuss National and International Sikh issues including the present Sikh struggle for freedom Khalistan. There will be discussions, resolutions, and the implementation of the proposed resolutions.
Freedom and liberty are very dear to the Sikhs. In the words of Thomas Jefferson “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, that to secure these rights governments are instituted among men.”
Endowed with the richest heritage in the world, the Sikhs were transformed into the Khalsa by the Tenth Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh. The 230 year evolutionary process made the Khalsa the guardian angels of the oppressed and to fight against injustice and tyranny.
The recent history of the Sikhs has been very trying and traumatic; Problems have persisted amidst divisiveness amongst the Sikhs themselves. This conference aims to promote discussion while strengthening, and bringing cohesiveness to the Sikh community.
All the Sikhs and the Sikh Organizations are cordially invited to attend this conference. Accommodation will be available for those who do not have any local arrangements.
