BOMBAY: The Khalsa College vice Principal Prof Dalip Singh who was arrested in the Indira Gandhi murder conspiracy has protested the manner in which the police are harassing his relatives even three months after his release from Tihar jail.

He and another local professor Jagmohan Singh were in jail for 9 months said cops of the special branch had been visiting his son in laws house in South Extension Delhi. They had already made four harassment visits. They terrorize the family with threats. On Jan 20 the school-going daughter of his relative was interrogated at 9 pm. Charanjit has been repeatedly asked why he went to the Tihar jail on December 7, 1989 how many persons were staying with him, the names and addresses of all his guests and relatives. Charanjit’s daughter Arvinder Kauris married to Prof Dalip Singh’s son Jaswinder Singh.

Charanjit Singh edits the Spokesman in New Delhi and is an accredited journalist.

The latest of these visits was on March 7 when the family was at dinner, when he asked the officer to show the warrant, the latter lost his temper and began shouting abuses much to the anguish of the family and neighbors. These visits are despite the assurances of the Lt Governor of Delhi Arjan Singh that the Delhi police would be asked to stop the harassment.
