NEW DELHI: The Chief of the Army staff, General VN Sharma on Saturday said Indian troops. Would continue to stand their ground in the Siachen Glacier till India and Pakistan agreed to a line of control in the area.
Addressing officers and Jawans at an impressive parade held on the occasion of the army day here, General Sharma said Indian Peace Keeping Forces had accomplished their military mission in Sri Lanka and would be withdrawn totally shortly.
Praising the role of the armed forces in Sri Lanka and Siachen, the Army Chief said it was now up to the governments of India and Sri Lanka to reach a political agreement so that peace returned to the troubled north eastern Sri Lanka.
