NEW DELHI All state governors have been asked to resign apparently to enable the center to replace some of them, sources said.
President Venkataraman is believed to have sent a letter to the governors after Home Minister sayed apprised him of the Govt’s decision to change governors in half a dozen states.
It is believed that the President had felt it would look discriminatory if a few governors were asked to quit. Hence the decision to call in the resignations of all of them.
The Govt had earlier sounded some of the governors considered political appointees of the Congress who had refused to oblige.
