NEW DELHI: The Sri Lankan foreign minister, Ranjan Wijeratne, claimed that the Indian government had agreed to consider his country’s request to complete deduction of the Indian Peace Keeping Force from the island nation before March 31.
Wijeratne was talking to Doorarshan after the first round of talks with the external affairs minister, LK. Gujral.
Gujral, on his part, referred to logistical aspects and other issues related to deduction of the IPKF,
Before leaving for New Delhi, Wijeratne had said in Colombo that March 31, set by the New Indian government for complete withdrawal of IPKF was unacceptable to his government.
