ESHAWAR, Pakistan, July 15, Reuter: Afghan artillery shelled a northwestern Pakistani border area today killing five people and seriously wounding two others, residents of the area said.

They said four villages were shelled in the Bajaur Tribal area in the morning. Four of the dead were women.

Pakistan today also said six people were killed by Afghan aerial and artillery attacks in the same area on July 7 and 10.

Pakistani and Afghan authorities have reported frequent cross border attacks from each other as Moslem guerrillas fight the Soviet backed government in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan’s official Kabul radio said today six people were killed and 11 wounded by ground to ground rockets fired by rebels on Gardez city, capital of the eastern province of Pakita.
