The representatives of various Gurdwaras and other Sikh
Community leaders of North California met at Gurdwara
Sahib Fremont on Saturday, May 14, 1988 and decided to
Organize a big demonstration at San Francisco on Sunday,
June 5, 1988 at 11:00 a.m.
This demonstration is being organized to observe the 4th
Anniversary of the invasion of the Golden Temple in June,
1984 and to register our protest and anguish at the fresh
Attack on the Golden Temple by the Indian Army.
An appeal was made at the meeting to all the Sikhs of
California to join this protest demonstration in full strength
So as to show our unity and strength to the butcher
Government of Rajiv Gandhi and to convey the message of independence.
PROGRAM:
Date: Sunday, June 5, 1988
Venue: Union Square Park, San Francisco
Time: 11:00 a.m.
The protest march will start from the Union Square and will end in front of the office of San Francisco Chronicle.
The purpose of demonstrating before the office of a newspaper is to enlighten the American media about the j Justness of our independence movement and about the violation of the human rights, and the repression of the Sikhs and other minorities by the Indian Government.
The buses are being arranged by the respective gurdwara committees to the Union Square and back.
Kirtani Jathas will recite Gurbani at the Union Square. The marchers will also be served with Guru Ka Langar.
