What sort of double dealing is this?

Journalist: Mr. Ambassador, Rajiv Gandhi has practically conceded nothing and yet managed an agreement with Sant Harchand Singh Longowal.

Ambassador: That’s right.

Journalist: Still opposition parties are protesting against the agreement in Haryana and Rajasthan and are calling it an unnecessary appeasement of a small minority.

Journalist: What compulsion was there that made Longowal sign an agreement that offers far less than what Mrs. Gandhi was offering? Don’t you think that opposition protests against the agreement are nothing but government inspired drama to make the Sikhs psychologically feel that they have been given more than their due?
