Fresno — Central Valley Chapter of World Sikh Organization observed commemoration day in memory of those killed in the diabolic army attack on Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) here on June 8, 1985. The day was marked by blood donation by about fifty persons under the auspices of American Red Cross. The event was widely covered by the local papers and T.V. Two guest speakers, Dr. Amrit Singh of Los Angeles and S. Gurdial Singh Dhaliwal of Panth Khalsa radio program, traced the events leading to the attack and exposed the double standards of the Indian government which works through deceit and falsehood. They felt that Sikhs could no more depend upon the majority community and only a sovereign status can ensure safety of Sikh identity.
Kirtan by S. Gurpartap Singh’s Jatha from El Sobrante was the special highlight on this solemn occasion.
