Dear Sardar Sahib, Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa;

Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh.

The Sikhs are passing through a critical period in their history and unless the burning issues facing the Panth are kept alive, the Sikh cause is likely to suffer.

You are therefore requested to plan the following programme in the coming months.

  1. 13th April, 1985:

A vigorous campaign for Dharm Parchar and Amrit Sanchar shouid is carried out on the Baisakhi Day this year. The youth in particular should be persuaded to keep the symbols of the khalsa. They should also be encouraged to learn the Sikh history and Gurbani.

  1. 6th June, 1985: (Thursday)

The period from Thursday 6th to 9th June, should be observed as Martyrdom week. After the Akhand Path Bhog in the memory of the martyrs of June, 1984, the Sangat may please be informed about the cause for which the Sikhs sacrificed their lives. Appeals may please be made to the Sikh Sangat to help the destitute, widows and orphans by adopting children and arranging their marriages abroad.

  1. 11th12th June, 1985:

Mr. Rajiv Gandhi is likely to visit the United States from June 11, onwards. It is requested that peaceful demonstrations should be carried out wherever he goes. Utmost care should be taken to avoid violence and provocation from hirelings of the Indian intelligence. These demonstrations or processions should be strictly in accordance with the laws of the country. However, the Sikhs should join in these demonstrations and protest meetings in large numbers to show solidarity with their brethren in India and to protest against atrocities, arson, killing and looting done to them in India. Human rights problems, in particular, should be highlighted at these meetings. Kindly give wide publicity to this programme. From the Office of the Secretary General World Sikh Organization.
