FATEHGARH SAHIB: The gross misuse of TADA in Punjab will be challenged in the Supreme Court said Simranjit Singh Mann while addressing his supporters after he was brought by the Patiala police in the court of D.K. Sarpal, Senior Sub judge. Fatehgarh Sahib, on the expiry of his judicial remand.
Ranjan Lakhanpal, High Court advocate, along with H.S. Rai pleaded his case and objected to the further judicial remand while Ajmer Singh Preet, ADA appeared on behalf of the Punjab Government, Sarpal sent him to judicial custody till January 28.
Talking to The Tribune, Mann alleged that Beant Singh wanted to cow him down by registering 54 cases against him under TADA. He made it clear that there won’t be any compromise on the Katia case. He would continue to fight for the cause of Punjab and Punjabis against this corrupt and anti-farmer government that indulged in nepotism.” Mann said it was a clear case of personal vendetta against him. The facilities provided in the jail were not up to his stature, food and medical treatment was not satisfactory. The windows of his cell were broken and the cold wind made him uncomfortable. Whereas, on the other hand, the grandson of Chief Minister was kept in the Boat Club and latter in the Sainik Guest House. He was given V.I.P. treatment. He was not produced before the judge but the judge went to listen to his case. .
