CHANDIGARH: The Gidderbaha Assembly by election has been perhaps the costliest in Punjab.
This is admitted by leaders from both the camps. When the election Process started, the talk in both the Camps as to how much money the campaign managers would save. The amount quoted runs into crores. That is also an indication of the money spent, whatever might be the guidelines of the Chief Election Commissioner, T.N, Seshan, According to insiders, the amount offered by both the camps was about Rs 2,500 per vote, There was a sudden rush at the polling booths after 3pm, but by that lime the bid had come down to about Rs 700 per vote.
