(By: Bhai Jit Singh Bainiwal, BKT American Unit President) CALIFORNIA: Sikhs are not far behind in today’s information age when the issue is that of exchanging information and communicating with the Sikhs worldwide, Using the state of the art Internet technology the news about Beant Singh’s assassination was broadcasted worldwide immediately on Khalsa Net (International computer network of Sikh Intelligentsia) and such culture Punjab, Many Sikhs gave their views on this incident. All the Sikhs who gave their views stressed not to rejoice this moment but indeed felt a sigh of relief on the death of Beant Singh. Some of them compared Beant Singh to Hitler. Many Sikh members recounted the atrocities committed by the butcher police ‘under his govt. The issue of injustice prevailing in Punjab and the human rights abuses perpetrated in Punjab during last few years was brought up. Some of the Sikh members mentioned that Beant Singh was a puppet of the tyrannical regime and ruthless brahmanical rulers of India.
The feeling was mixed as to who was responsible for the bomb explosion, Some Sikhs felt that this could be an act of Govt of India. They believe that the Govt. has been able to get rid of this lowly man after using him, In the recent past Beant and his stooges has caused embarrassment to the ruling party. Other Sikh professionals thanked the militant outfit who claimed the responsibility of killing this tyrant.
It is commonly believed by the Sikh professionals that this incident will help in bringing about a turn around to the slow paced movement to gain freedom for the Sikhs. Others stressed the fellow members to raise the voice against the atrocities being committed on Sikh population in Punjab in the wake of this incident, It was suggested to reinvigorate the efforts and help the freedom movement to break the shackles of slavery.
