NEW DELHI: Despite Prime Minister P.V, Narasimha Rao’s advice to his party men to keep their heads off ‘Andhra Pradesh developments, he is underintense pressure to intervene by ‘warring sections of state Congress Readers.

While the Reddy group, spearheaded by former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Vijayabhaskara Reddy favors dissolution of the State Assembly and imposition of the President’s rule, another section backed by Central ‘ministers from the state would prefer Chandrababu Naidu to be installed in place of Rama Rao.

The Rajya Sabha member, P:Upendra, who has acted as Rao’s troubleshooter and the Union Textiles Minister, G. Venkataswamy, have advised Rao not to give the impression of being too keen to meddle in ‘Andhra affairs. Their view is that a premature dissolution of the State Assembly and imposition of the President’s rule would not only generate sympathy for NTR among the people but would also be construed as breach of faith by the Chandrababu faction.
