HYDERABAD: The fate of the district education officer, who was abducted by Maoist guerrillas from the east Godavari district in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, was still not known, while the other nine hostages, including four police personnel and a village self-governing body president, reported at their respective district headquarters Thursday.
The state government partly conceded the demands of the guerrillas, called Nasality’s because of the origins of their movement in Naxalbari village of West Bengal state, by freeing seven under-trials, including a woman, in exchange for the hostages. It was also clarified that of the remaining six whose release was demanded by the naxalities, two were Convicts
