SRINAGAR: On Sept. Militants abducted head constable Mohammad Ashra, from Harwan, bazar on the outskirts of Srinagar while he was purchasing medicine.

Troops spotted a group of infiltrators in the curfew bound five border belt and asked them to lay down arms. Instead of surrendering, the militants opened fire at the troops and in the ensuing encounter nine militants were killed; the spokesman said_

Fate of three other abducted persons Pankaj Kumar Sinha, former Bihar MLA, Mohammad Shareef, an employee of Regional Engineering College and Prof, Abdul Ahad Wani, who teaches law in Kashmir university—is still unknown.

However, Gazanfar, son of former Minister and senior Janata Dal leader of J and K, Abdul Qayoom reached home unharmed on Sunday evening, He was abducted from his Rambagh clinic on August 30.
