CALCUTTA: Over 800 people have died of gastroenteritis in India’s eastern state of West Bengal.
The toll in epidemic sweeping state’s five districts for the last two. Months has risen to 810, according to official sources here Monday.
The sources said that Eltor, a kind of Cholera germ, was not found on examination of some samples of water from the worst hit Bankura and Burdwan districts.
However, the state government was awaiting the report of several medical teams, sent to the affected districts.
