CHANDIGARE: Eight freedom fighters and three CRPF jawans were among 12 persons killed in Punjab during the past 24 hours,

The security forces arrested two ultras and seized from them a huge quantity of arms and ammunition brought from Pakistan.

In an encounter freedom fighters killed three CRPF jawans near Chakelwal village in the mand area of Tarn Taran police district (Amritsar) this afternoon. Two other jawans were seriously injured.

The BSF gunned down two ultras coming from Pakistan near the Kalia outpost in the Khem Karan sector in Amritsar district today. One of them was identified as Sucha Singh a hardcore freedom fighter. The other was yet to be identified.

The BSF seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from the site of the encounter. The seized arms included one AK47 rifle a rocket launcher a rocket propeller 20 kg of explosive material, 16 anti-tank rockets, 16 detonators eight AK47 rifle magazines and two pistols and cartridges of various bores.

On AK47 rifle a double barrel gun along with a huge quantity of ammunition were seized from the site of the encounter.

A terrorist was shot dead near Karoaran village in Ropar district early this morning. His two accomplices however escaped. A 12 bore gun and a few cartridges were seized from the site of the encounter.
