PANIPAT: Eight police officials, including an Inspector, were arrested recently for allegedly murdering Satyavan, a student and resident of Nabra village in police custody.

The arrest of the officials’ involved in the ghastly murder which had been resulted in a student police clash in the city was ordered by Mr R.R. Singh, Director General of Police who was camping at Panipat.

The DGP issued orders of arrest after the post mortem report of Satyavan was received from Rohtak Medical College. He also ordered the registration of a case against the police officials who were sent to the lockup in the morning.

The police officials, namely, Inspector Mohinder Singh, ASI Zile Singh, constables Mam Chand, Ved Singh, Ram Kumar, Satish Kumar and Dharam Singh, were promptly, placed under suspension by the S.P. Mr AK Dhool. Singh, were promptly, placed under suspension by the S.P., Mr AK Dhool.

Addressing the students, the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Vijay Kumar, ordered a magisterial probe in the circumstances leading to the death of Satyavan, The enquiry would be conducted by Mr Amar Nath, SDM (Civil). He assured them that all their grievances would be looked into:

Satyavan was cremated in his village last week. Both the Deputy Commissioner and the SDM attended the funeral.
