SRINAGAR: Six militants, two of them activists of Hizbul Mujahideen, and a security jawan were killed and 12 people wounded in escalating violence in Kashmir Valley.
Security forces arrested four militants and seized some arms and ammunition, an official spokesman said. On the other hand, authorities ordered release of five detainees from different interrogation centers in Badgam district following recommendation of District Screening Committee which met under the chairmanship of Deputy Com missioner S.K. Naik on April 8.
The spokesman said that two militants – Abdul Rashid Naik alias “Nawaz Sharief,” platoon commander and Abdul Rashid Ahanger, platoon administrator – of Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in an encounter with security forces at Dadi-Angan in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.
