BARODA: The overall situation in the Hindu Muslim riot tom Baroda city, except minor incidents of stone throwing in Chip wad area near Mehta Pole, was under control and peaceful.
No major incident took place after midnight of Tuesday. Seven persons were killed, six in police firing and one in stabbing, on Tuesday evening. Violence erupted in the walled city (four gates) area, during the religious procession taken out for immersion of Ganpati idols, the city police Commissioner, C P Singh told newsmen here on Wednesday.
Singh said the relaxation of the indefinite curfew, which was imposed in the walled city since Tuesday evening, would be considered after watching the situation and it would continue without any relaxation.
The police resorted to firing in Rajpur Pole, Ladwada, M G Road and other areas of the walled city to check the violence and incidents of arson and looting.
He said 30 persons received injuries in police firing, stone throwing, stabbing and in acid bulb throwing, and 16 policemen, including three police officials, were injured in throwing of acid bulbs and stones, he pointed out.
