COLOMBO: At least 67 LITE militants were killed in separate gun battles and attacks by air force on militant position in northeastern Sri Lanka Dec 13, military officials here said.
The air force claims to have destroyed a militant camp between Nayaru and Kokkilai in northern Sri Lanka in which at least 48 militants were killed.
The force also destroyed in its four hours bombing and strafing operations seven militant vehicles including five armored plated ‘ones, military officials said.
In another operation around the Palaly air force base in northern Jaffna, ground troops killed 13 militants.
While two militants were killed in northern Mullaitivu, four militants were killed in two separate incidents in eastern Batticaloa when the forces raided a militant safe house and returned fire after the LTTE exploded a Claymore mine near a security force patrol. Two soldiers were injured in these incidents, officials said.
