BHOPAL: At least 60 people were feared killed and 200 injured when the 322 UP Nagpur Tata nagar passenger train collided with a goods train at the KarorimaL station near Raigarh district in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh Sept4, initial reports in the state capital Bhopal said.
The accident occurred around midnight of the Jharasguda Ballarpur section of central railway at Karorimal station, some 10 km from Raigarh district.
Nand Kumar Patel, MLA from Kharasia and Raigarh district said that he had received the information that the two front bogies of the passenger train had been totally damaged when it hit the stationary goods train.
He said there could be more casualties. The collector and the superintendent of police, Raigarh have reached the site.
A railway ministry spokesman in the Indian capital New Delhi said the divisional railway manager, Ballarpur along with a medical team rushed to the spot to provide relief and rescue operations.
Minister of state for railways Mallikarjun, chairman of the railway board Y P Anand and two advisors were proceeding to the site by a special air force plane.
