Gupta proposed to mop up the remaining rs 15 crore through rationalization of sales tax and better tax compliance from the traders
Gupta said while the closing effect of the current year and the opening deficit for 1992-93 has been estimated at rs 87.34 crore the closing deficit for 1992-93 will be reduced 59.81 crore after mobilization of additional resources of rs 60 crore.
He expressed the hope of reducing the closing deficit for next year through various economy ‘measures and further control on the non-productive expenditure for ‘which he proposed a reduction in the non-plan expenditure at the budgeted level.
